Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky - Palana - river Lesnaya - river Pravaya Lesnaya - river Shvitkityna - Central Range - Ossora - Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky
After arrival to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Kamchatka we shall continue further north to Palana. From there we shall start our skiing trip. We shall cross the Kamchatka Peninsula where it is most narrow, going from the Sea of Okhotsk to the Bering Sea. We shall ascend the Tsentralny [Central] Mountain Range and then go down following the frozen rivers. In times gone by this was the route which Koryak warriors in their dog sleds took when they set off on their military campaigns, going east against the Chukchi or west against the Yukaghirs. Today this route is used for the final leg of Beringia, the international dog sled race. We shall be spending the nights in tents set up around the blazing campfire. Our trip will terminate in Ossora township.
