We shall leave for a trek to the north of Scotland. First of all, we shall ascend Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Great Britain (1344 m). Later we shall hike via the northern part of The Scottish National Trail, where candidates to the legendary SAS, British Special Forces, train.
This is a unique place in Europe where pristine wild nature still exists. One will meet people here as often as in the times of Duncan MacLeod. It is exactly in this area that the legendary fantasy film Highlander was shot.
Real challenges await us for the unexplored wilderness will put us to test here!

day 3Early in the morning we take the bus from Fort William going to Inverlael, a small village in the north of the country. Around dinner time we shall arrive at the main part of our trip: the northern portion of The National Scottish Trail. |
|
days 4-7We keep hiking across rough terrain, fording creeks and rivers for bridges are not always available there. We approach many inlets and bays of the Atlantic Ocean. Our trek leads us over the hills, valleys and notches where one can rarely see a lonely dilapidated house or a ruined farm. With the progress of the civilization people who used to live here preferred more “cozy” conditions in the cities rather than staying here, in this inhospitable area. On the hike we sleep in tents and cook our food on a burner. In this area, there is pretty often no material to start a fire with. If we are lucky, we can find shelter from the rain in the old ruins. |
